First they came

As a society we cannot handle the challenges facing us if we are only taking testimony from an increasingly small, homogenous group. This elite has little experience of existential poverty; they have read about it, perhaps have even had a gap year experience but they believe that it is something you can work yourself out of if you work harder. The strategic vision is to create space for a new and distinct set of voices to enter the political discourse.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
